The Business Analyst will interface with a team of analysts who are responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks that all revolve around the development, upkeep, and support of core operational business functions. The Business Analyst will be responsible for leveraging industry knowledge and data analysis to provide pricing and logistics solutions. The Business Analyst will support initiatives to grow pricing support for new customers and the ongoing growth of existing customers. The Business Analyst will utilize existing customer data and available market data to create pricing models and make appropriate pricing recommendations and business decisions. The Business Analyst role will have a more targeted project-based focus that primarily revolves around pricing, network optimization, data analysis, and process/tool development. These projects will primarily be based on bigger picture goals that will require assessing and organizing the required resources and personnel to accomplish the objective in a timely fashion.

**Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM with one work from home day**

What the role involves

Overview
 
Improve freight network optimization via data analysis, acquired knowledge of the network and working with operations
 
Managing Salesforce rating workflow
 
Work closely and develop relationships with internal sales and operations teams to gather relevant information to provide potential customers with comprehensive pricing solutions
 
Utilize customer data and established assumptions to create dedicated pricing models primarily within excel
 
Maintain and build existing internal pricing and analysis tools and templates which currently include the Network Intelligence Tool, Pricing Intelligence Tool, and various tableau dashboards
 
Work to develop new pricing and network analysis tools and continue to improve existing tools and workflows related to pricing
 
Engineer routes to maximize driver and truck productivity while adhering to DOT Hours of Service Regulation
 
Making rating decisions for RFPs, dedicated opportunities, and ad-hoc rate requests
 
Complete thorough business reviews of expired rate contracts for existing customers which are generated from an automated queue each week.
 
Use strategic thinking to see the big picture, determine the problem and understand fundamental parts of the problem
 
Manage and execute extraction of data from various sources and systems. Design, build, and run complex data queries for various reporting and leadership requirement
 
Identify trends within Brown’s custom-built pricing tools and make recommendations that supports improved network efficiency
 
Interpret data and Identify trends with the company’s network analysis tools. Provide data to Senior Management to support decision making. Provide input on forecast based on knowledge of product, technology, and business acumen.
 
Manage process and ongoing projects to ensure the delivery against business needs and monthly production goal
 
Host regular meetings with operations to move identified efficiencies from concepts to reality
 
Synthesize findings and derive conclusions from analysis and make oral/written recommendations to upper management. Execute tasks related to core operations projects and/or process improvements. Execute day to day processes related to their areas of responsibility. Communicate issues and roadblocks related to their areas of responsibility.

What we’re looking for

Required
 
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant job experience
 
Demonstrated aptitude for Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis
 
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 
Interpersonal and communication skills
 
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and SQL Query tools
 
Proficiency in usage of Tableau
 
Extremely detail oriented
 
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently, and to perform concurrent tasks that require technical and functional competence
 
Experience in creating system and or user documentation
 
Intrinsically motivated to succeed
 
Logistics experience a plus
 
Ability to prioritize regular workload, special tasks, ad-hoc task, and concurrent projects

 

Environment and Physical Requirements: The majority of the work week will be in office with occasional travel by automobile. Duties to include administrative functions using the phone, computer and communicating with people. This job will require lifting of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit a minimum of 8 hours per day, perform keyboard operations a minimum of 6 hours per day, and must be able to stand and climb stairs as required. There will be bending of the waist, wrist and shoulders. Position will be exposed to heavy duty tractor/trailer diesel fumes, dust and noise.
