What you’ll be doing

The Logistics Carrier Sales Representative is skilled at negotiating pricing and coordinating transportation for shipments that our sales team secures from small and large businesses around North America. Responsible for contacting new carriers that meet our safety and service standards and forming relationships to secure future shipping needs.

This position integrates sales, business development, and brokering freight by working with the sales team, customers, commercial vehicle operators, and dispatchers, using verbal/written communication and software programs to negotiate freight pricing and track loads. This is a fast-paced, interactive, and sales-oriented role.

What the role involves

Overview
 
Provide full-cycle customer service to include customer contact, order tracking and delivery confirmation
 
Contact customers daily to generate revenue
 
Deliver customer service in line with “best practice”. Ensure compliance to relevant policies
 
Provide point of contact for customers’ concerns and questions to give a successful outcome
 
Provide assistance to customers should an incident occur, seeking guidance in line with company policies
 
Build loads within computer systems with 98% accuracy rate or better
 
Exhibit teamwork skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
 
Set pickup and/or delivery appointments within standard guidelines, update the load and carrier as needed with a 98% accuracy rate or better
 
Track/trace all assigned loads to include documentation of check call within two hours of loading and within two hours of unloading within working standards, including documentation of this check call to customer and/or team members involved with the customer
 
Maintain accurate notes in system of incidents outside normal pickup and delivery within 4 hours of occurrence
 
Meet and exceed monthly sales objective
 
Perform additional related duties and assignments as directed by Management

What we’re looking for

Required
 
High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
 
Good interpersonal and customer-facing skills essential
 
Efficient and effective service to customers and understanding their needs
 
Ability to maintain professionalism, display patience/politeness within a sometimes-pressurized environment
 
Organized and flexible
 
Oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues at all levels
 
Confidence to deal with difficult situations

 

Environment and Physical Requirements: The majority of the work week will be in office with occasional travel by automobile. Duties to include administrative functions using the phone, computer and communicating with people. This job will require lifting of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit a minimum of 8 hours per day, perform keyboard operations a minimum of 6 hours per day, and must be able to stand and climb stairs as required. There will be bending of the waist, wrist and shoulders. Position will be exposed to heavy duty tractor/trailer diesel fumes, dust and noise.
