What you’ll be doing

BROWN is seeking an experienced, results-driven Director of Business Development to drive new business growth in third-party logistics (3PL) contract warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment services.

This role is ideal for a strategic sales professional with a proven track record of winning new customers and closing complex warehousing and distribution opportunities. The successful candidate will combine strong business development skills with the ability to understand customer supply chain requirements, collaborate with operations, develop tailored warehouse solutions, and build compelling, financially sound proposals.

The Director of Business Development will work closely with sales and marketing, operations, and senior leadership to identify new opportunities, develop customized supply chain solutions, and grow BROWN’s dedicated and multi-client warehousing business.

What the role involves

Overview

Proactively identify, prospect, and cold call target companies to generate qualified new-business leads outside the existing client base.

Build and maintain a strong pipeline of net-new prospects through outbound calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and other self-generated activities.

Develop and execute a personal target-account acquisition plan aligned with the company's ideal customer profile and growth strategy.

Cultivate relationships with key decision makers at prospective client organizations to understand their supply chain and logistics needs.

Represent the company at trade shows, industry associations, and networking events to build brand awareness and generate new-business leads.

Qualify inbound and self-generated leads and partner with sales to transition qualified opportunities into the solution design and proposal process.

Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and pitches to prospective clients.

Maintain accurate prospecting, pipeline, and forecast information in Salesforce.

Generate prospect lists, leverage personal and professional networks, identify target contacts, and provide weekly status updates to senior leadership.

Assist with formal responses to RFIs and RFPs for new-business opportunities.

Collaborate with sales and marketing to improve marketing materials, prospecting tools, and outreach strategies.

Achieve or exceed assigned new-business targets for net-new logos and revenue on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

What we’re looking for

Required

Minimum of 5 years of business development or sales experience specifically in 3PL contract warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, or warehouse-based logistics solutions.

A proven track record of developing and closing new-logo warehousing and distribution business.

Working knowledge of warehouse solution development, including storage, product flow, labor planning, facility requirements, warehouse management systems (WMS), material-handling equipment, and pricing.

Experience selling dedicated and/or multi-client warehousing and distribution solutions.
